Safeguarding Children is Everyone’s Responsibility

If a child tells you something worrying

  1. Listen carefully and stay calm.
  2. Do not promise confidentiality.
  3. Do not investigate or ask leading questions.
  4. Record the child’s words as accurately as possible.
  5. Inform the designated safeguarding person immediately.
  6. Complete the appropriate written record.

Report concerns promptly

Contact the responsible safeguarding person directly. A form or electronic message does not replace immediate contact when a child’s safety is at risk.

Verbal reporting does not replace completion of the appropriate written record.

Approved procedures, contact details and forms can be found here.
